Börek is a time honoured pastry of Anatolian cuisine, where thin yufka sheets meet a filling layer by layer. The hand rolled yufka opened with a rolling pin gives the pastry a thin and crisp texture. The endearing filling of the potato börek is made of wonderfully soft potato seasoned with spices.

For the filling, boiled potatoes are mashed, sautéed with finely chopped onion and seasoned with salt, black pepper and red pepper flakes. In many homes a pinch of cumin is also added to this filling. This simple yet filling centre offers a soft flavour loved by children and adults alike.

With a crust that crackles when it comes out of the oven, the potato börek wins you over with the warm and satisfying taste of the spiced potato inside. It conquers the hearts of even those who do not like meat böreks. It reaches its most enjoyable form alongside afternoon tea.

Antepside sends the potato börek raw and frozen to your door. There is no need to thaw it, you simply bake it in a preheated oven or pan until the top turns golden. You complete its freshness yourself at home.

Without thawing the börek, place it in a preheated oven at 180 degrees and bake for about 25 to 30 minutes until the top is golden and crackling. You can also prepare it in a pan over low heat, browning both sides.

You can keep the raw börek in the refrigerator for a few days and in the deep freezer for longer. It is at its most delicious fresh from the oven while still hot. We recommend serving it with a glass of strong brewed tea.
